Day 33 - Toilet training outside

At almost five weeks of age, the puppies have become less of Lily's every day focus. So its all on me now! Lily has less desire to breast feed them because puppies now have sharp canine tiny teeth and lets just say.. if your four babies are chasing you for milk all at once, I'm sure you will start to become frustrated and annoyed too. Lily has zero tolerance when they are rough and competing for her breast milk so she barks and growls at them.
I have started only a few days ago to toilet train the puppies to release outside on the grass. Their first time outside was a cold and wet night because it was raining all day. So unfortunately they had to step on wet icy cold grass. Puppies did not like the feeling so they chose to pee on the concrete instead -Toilet training outside on day 1 failed! Probably because they are used to peeing on newspaper in the whelping box.
So I tried again the second night. Two of the puppies managed to pee on the grass but the other two decided that the concrete was better! At least I'm 50% there. The weather was still freezing windy cold that night, well for me anyway. I can't imagine how the puppies would've felt but I'm sure, with their thick fluffy fur, it must've felt like spring in October here in Melbourne.
On the second night as well, puppies dared to explore their surrounding. They like my veggie patch (who doesn't? haha) and the honeycomb rocks. Funny story, my brother's girlfriend was playing with the one clumsy puppy and was watching him walk along a step. Not sure how it happened exactly but I'm guessing he loss his balance and fell into a tub of rainwater. Lucky he was supervised and we immediately brought a towel to dry him up. Poor puppy, he must've been traumatised!! Because of that, little boy puppy got his first bath as well on that very night! He was given first class pampering experience and got to snuggle up with one of us. He must've had one heck of an awesome sleep and dream!
